Celebrated Pastry Chef Julien Dugourd Presents Limited-time Dessert Collection At Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi

Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi is delighted to announce a limited-time culinary collaboration with renowned French pastry chef Julien Dugourd, who will bring his visionary creations to Episodes, the hotel’s elegant lobby lounge concept, from 6 to 11 May.

For six days only, guests will be transported into a world of refined flavour and visual artistry, as Chef Julien unveils a collection of desserts crafted exclusively for his time at the iconic hotel. Episodes – known for its beautiful interiors, curated selection of artisanal teas and gourmet delicacies, and immersive approach to culinary storytelling – provides the perfect setting. Designed as a destination to soak in the quieter moments of the day, the lounge is a sanctuary for those who appreciate craftsmanship and creativity.

The collection includes highlights such as Pavlova Strawberry-Mint, Saint-Honoré Jasmin, Pistachio Paris-Brest, Vanilla Tart, and a special Mother’s Day creation titled The Rose. These desserts will be available at The Mandarin Cake Shop, with small sizes priced at AED 30 and medium at AED 75, allowing guests to enjoy them in the lounge, from the comfort of their rooms, or as a take-home treat.

In addition to the dessert showcase, guests can enjoy a beautifully crafted Afternoon Tea experience from 2 to 6pm daily, curated by Mandarin Oriental’s Pastry Chef Alexandar Thabard, with special additions by Chef Julien. Priced at AED 245 per person, this refined ritual offers a taste of modern French pâtisserie with highlights such as Verrine Shiso, Upside-Down Lemon-Basil Tart, Honey Almond, 1000F Exotic, and Sakura, all served alongside a selection of the world’s finest teas. To complete the atmosphere, live piano music will accompany the lounge experience daily from midday to 9pm, with special solo vocal performances enhancing the ambience on Thursday and Sunday.

Julien Dugourd is one of France’s most celebrated pastry chefs, known for his visually striking creations, refined technique, and unwavering dedication to flavour. After beginning his career with Marc Veyrat, he honed his craft at some of the most prestigious kitchens in Europe, including those of Jean-Georges Klein, Alain Ducasse, and Christophe Michalak.He served for over a decade as the pastry chef at the two-Michelin-starred La Chèvre d’Or in Èze before launching his own boutique in Nice in 2023. Today, he continues to innovate through high-profile collaborations with brands such as Dior and Maserati, and as a consultant at Mandarin Oriental, Paris.

For a short time this May, Abu Dhabi becomes the latest chapter in Chef Julien’s boundary pushing culinary journey, offering a chance for guests to experience his world of pastry in an unforgettable setting.
